China consumed 1,531.6 TWh of electricity over the first two months this year, rising 11.0% on the year, according to data released by the National Energy Administration on March 20.
The primary industries, primarily the agricultural sector, recorded an 11.1% year-on-year increase to consume 19.2 TWh of electricity during the same period. The secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, utilized 952.0 TWh of electricity, marking a 9.7% rise on the year. The tertiary industries, largely the service sector, used 286.9 TWh of electricity, up 15.7% from the year prior.
For the residential segment, power consumption over January-February also saw a 10.5% increase year on year to 273.5 TWh.
During the first two months, power companies above designated size generated 1,487.0 TWh of electricity, data showed.
