China's power generation of all sources totaled 1,487 TWh in the first two months this year, an 8.3% rise from a year earlier, showed data from the National Bureau of Statistics on March 18.
The year-on-year growth accelerated by 0.3 percentage point compared with that of December 2023. Daily power generation averaged 24.78 TWh during the January-February period.
The output of thermal power, mostly coal-fired, totaled 1,080 TWh in the given period, up 9.7% year on year; hydropower increased 0.8% YoY to 139 TWh; wind power 149.7 TWh, up 5.8 YoY; nuclear 69.1 TWh, gaining 3.5% YoY; solar 49 TWh, rising 15.4%, the NBS data showed.
