Central China's Henan province has identified and rectified huge numbers of problems during a safety inspection at coal mines across the province starting July 17, aimed to ensure safety for the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress, the provincial government said.
Relevant authorities have found 18,259 safety loopholes in 571 coal mines, 80.7% of which or 15,848 items have been rectified, it said.
Two coal mines were ordered to halt production for rectification, said the provincial government.
China's safety watchdogs have tightened safety inspections in recent months, but some accidents still occurred in the coal mining industry.
The latest accident occurred at the opencast mine of Luxin Coal Industry Co., Ltd on August 11 when four died and five were missing in a landslide.
